Pushcart Nomination from Bayou Magazine

Delighted to share that Bayou Magazine has nominated my poem “The Council” for the Pushcart Prize, my first nomination in poetry.

Fiction was my sole genre through grad school—I came to poetry and nonfiction much later—so this vote of confidence is particularly meaningful. Huge thanks to poet and editor Carolyn Hembree and the whole Bayou team at the University of New Orleans for believing in this strange, surreal piece enough to nominate it for both the Best New Poets anthology and the Pushcart Prize this year.
